Join Us for the Spring Civic Sweep!

Make a clean sweep of your home and your neighborhood by joining the Park Slope Civic Council at its annual spring beautification and clean-up event: the Spring Civic Sweep.

Put on your old clothes and join other volunteers to pick up litter on Fourth, Fifth, or Seventh Avenues as well as care for our local trees. Meet us and pick up your tools at the sidewalk in front of Old Stone House/JJ Byrne Park, Fifth Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets on Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine). The Civic Council is joining with other groups at this year’s sweep to offer even more opportunities for a better community:

With Million TreesNYC:
Participate in a tree care workshop at noon, then adopt a new Park Slope street tree and receive the tools to care for it.

With GrowNYC:

  • Have your soil tested for basic pH. Bring one teaspoon of dry garden soil in a zip lock baggie.
  • See a healthful food display
  • Watch a rainwater collection demonstration
  • Learn how to make fruit juice with your bike!

We’ll have refreshments, we’ll provide all tools and supplies and we’ll give away flowering plants. Volunteers will leave wearing “I Made Park Slope Cleaner Today” stickers. Community Service vouchers will be available. And of course, we’ll all enjoy bluegrass by Vincent Cross & Good Company.
