Preserving Local History

Only about a quarter of our Park Slope neighborhood is landmarked. Outside of the Park Slope Historic District, buildings can be demolished, altered in inappropriate ways, or stripped of their architectural features. The Civic Council is committed to redressing this oversight by getting protection extended.

Busy Committees

Southern History

Last November, the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to move ahead on plans to include some 600 South Slope buildings in a larger Park Slope Historic District. The LPC is now documenting those historic structures as part of its designation process.
