More than 200 audience members gathered in the Old First Reformed Church’s sanctuary to listen to panelists discuss traffic calming and placemaking, residential parking permits and Atlantic Yards, and more.

Only about a quarter of our Park Slope neighborhood is landmarked. Outside of the Park Slope Historic District, buildings can be demolished, altered in inappropriate ways, or stripped of their architectural features. There’s more to the Civic Council’s work than just the initiatives approved by our trustees and members. Every year, we also provide up to $10,000 in grants to local nonprofits and noncommercial organizations that have an impact on the quality of life in our neighborhood.
