Laurie Chaumont, Trustee
Laurie arrived in Park Slope when she was 18 as student at Methodist Hospital’s Nursing Program. She fell in love with the neighborhood and never left. Her healthcare career ranged from Hospital ICU care at NYU, editing for professional journals, to Home Health care as a field nurse and then as Director of Informatics where she led several agencies from paper-based record keeping to digital formats until her retirement. Laurie and her husband live in the Park Slope home they bought in 1982 where they raised 3 children. Laurie was very involved in the PTA at PS 321 serving as Treasurer and Vice President. In retirement Laurie’s volunteer activities have included serving as chair of the Parish Council at St. Boniface, as a team member at Good Neighbors of Park Slope where she helped launch programs linking those needing help with those who can provide it, and as a member of the executive committee at Preserve Park Slope, founded in 2013 in response to the expansion project at Methodist Hospital. Laurie enjoys cooking, taking her dog off leash in Prospect Park and spending time with her grandkids.
