1. Register Your Stoop
Add your stoop to the official #SuperStoopDay Map! Registration helps create a connected, walkable experience and lets participants know where to find sales, giveaways, food and drinks, and other fun. Registration opens here August 7th
2. Spread the Word
Let your building, block, and friends know you’re participating. Share our flyer, share the news on social, and tag @park_slope_civic_council with #SuperStoopDay to help build neighborhood buzz.
3. Set Up Your Stoop (Without Blocking Sidewalks)
On Saturday September 20th, you can set up your items between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Whether you’re selling, giving things away for free, or just joining in the fun, please be mindful to:
- Keep sidewalks clear and passable for pedestrians, strollers, and wheelchairs.
- Only use your stoop, front walkway, or the area directly in front of your building, unless you have received permission for using other spaces. Seek approval from your building if required.
- Don’t block building or parking entrances.
- Do not use street parking spots.
4. Clean Up Responsibly
Park Slope #SuperStoopDay is about celebrating community, not creating clutter. Thank you for helping keep the neighborhood clean, welcoming, and fun for everyone. At the end of the day, please take time to clean up:
- Remove all remaining items from public areas, including any waste.
- Don’t leave goods or waste on sidewalks, tree pits, or stoops overnight.
- Donate what you can or dispose of remaining items using NYC’s sanitation guidelines or donation centers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate?
Any Park Slope (north and south) resident, business, or school. Whether you live in a brownstone, apartment, co-op, or walk-up, you’re welcome. This is a community-wide effort.
What time does the event run?
The event is from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The rain date will be September 21st.
Do I have to register to take part?
Registration is strongly encouraged. Registered stoops/buildings will be included on the digital map so neighbors and visitors can easily find you. Register HERE
Can kids participate?
Yes. Under parental supervision, children under 18 years are encouraged to join in—whether by selling lemonade, making friendship bracelets, or offering their own giveaways.
What can I sell or give away?
Popular items include:
- Books, records, clothes, and toys
- Small furniture and home goods
- Baked goods, handmade items, or crafts
- Plants and cuttings
As we support sustainable practices, we encourage participants to sell and giveaway secondhand items and ensure that they are of adequate quality and in good shape. Consider what you would be willing to buy from someone else!
We also encourage participants to clearly label any possible allergens in food and drink items.
Are there any rules or requirements?
- Keep sidewalks accessible and clear for pedestrians
- Do not block building entrances, parking areas, or fire escapes
- No amplified sound, generators, or commercial vending setups
- Clean up your stoop and sidewalk by 5:00 PM
- No illegal items for sale
Can I leave my stoop between 11 AM and 4 PM to go enjoy other stoops?
Of course! We do hope that registered stoops are actively monitored for at least a few hours during this window, but you are not obligated to stay by your stoop the entire time. An option is to partner up with someone else so that you can take turns enjoying the #SuperStoopDay.
Do I need a permit?
No permit is needed. As long as you have permission to use your own stoop or the sidewalk immediately in front of your building, you’re covered.
I don’t have a stoop. Can I still participate?
Yes. We’re working to pair interested residents with neighbors or businesses who are open to sharing space. Contact us at events@parkslopeciviccouncil.org
Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee you a spot, and so also encourage you to collaborate with a neighbor or friend who has a stoop to share.
How can local businesses get involved?
Businesses are encouraged to offer #SuperStoopDay discounts or sidewalk specials – be sure to register your business and the discount so we know what you plan to offer.
Where can I find the map of participating stoops?
The map will be available here on the website and posted on Instagram, and Facebook in the days leading up to the event.
