Mulchfest 2019
January 12, 2019 @ 10:00 am - January 13, 2019 @ 2:00 pm
Mulchfest 2019
On Saturday, January 12, or Sunday, January 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., bring your holiday tree to the Third Street entrance of Prospect Park or the Park Circle entrance at Parkside Avenue and Prospect Park Southwest. Your tree will be turned into environment-friendly mulch, which you can take home free of charge for your own garden. While you wait for your mulch at the Third Street entrance, you can enjoy hot chocolate, served by the Park Slope Civic Council.
Can’t make it? You may leave holiday trees at the Park entrances mentioned above after January 4. Also, if you live in the area bounded by Union Street, Sixth Avenue, 15th Street, and Prospect Park West, you can leave your tree at either end of your block before 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12 and volunteers will pick it up and bring it to the 3rd Street entrance of the Park.
You can help make this event a success by volunteering:
- To gather trees and transport them to the Park
- To help assist people who bring their trees in for recycling at the 3rd St. Entrance
- To work on the U-Hauls collecting trees from the sidewalks
To volunteer, please e-mail the Civic Council’s Sustainability Committee at sustainability@parkslopeciviccouncil.org OR come to the Third Street entrance of the Park on January 12 or 13, 10am – 2pm.
Mulchfest is co-sponsored by the Prospect Park Alliance and the Park Slope Civic Council. Special thanks to U-Haul for their valued participation.
