A Message from The Park Slope Civic Council

The Park Slope Civic Council is excited and optimistic about the prospect of new beginnings in 2021. The Spring season offers hope that the progress we have made in confronting the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic will continue in the months ahead. Concomitantly, we are keen to recognize that racial and social inequities have been exposed during this pandemic and must be confronted with truth, charity and love of our neighbors.

The Park Slope Civic Council is appalled by the recent spate of violent attacks against Asian Americans across our city, state and country. We condemn such actions and decry racism and bigotry in all egregious forms. The pain we share as we bear witness to systemic racism and violence against people of color and other historically oppressed groups in our society has motivated us to seek reconciliation.

As the Park Slope Civic Council works to advance the interests of our community, we treasure the diversity that makes Park Slope a wonderful place to live, work and visit. To this end, we appeal to the continued good will of our neighbors and friends to ensure that Park Slope remains a safe, welcoming and viable community for every race, creed, color, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion and socio-economic group.

In solidarity-

The Park Slope Civic Council
