Save the date: Mulchfest 2026 is on Saturday, January 10. We are partnering with the Prospect Park Alliance to recycle
Mulchfest is an annual community-environmental event in Park Slope, organized in partnership by the Park Slope Civic Council (PSCC), NYC Parks, and the Prospect Park Alliance, in which residents drop off their live Christmas trees (minus lights and ornaments), which are then chipped into nutrient-rich mulch. The mulch is either used in city tree beds and community gardens or distributed back to residents who bring bags to collect it. PSCC supports the event by recruiting volunteers, providing snacks and hot chocolate, and even collecting trees via a U-Haul to maximize recycling.
