Join the Park Slope Civic Council at our annual fall beautification, recycling and clean-up event – Sustainability Day – Saturday, November 6. It’s free and open to all!
Put on your old clothes and come to the sidewalk in front of John Jay Educational Campus (7th Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets) from 10am to 2pm to join other volunteers in picking up litter, caring for street trees, and giving away daffodil bulbs. There’s no need to stay for the entire event – feel free to stop by for as little or as long as you like.
For the first time the Council is sponsoring free document shredding during the event. Bring all those financial records and confidential documents that you’ve been wanting to get rid of but didn’t know how to do so securely to the Sweep, where they will be safely destroyed by TIME Shred. A locally owned company, TIME Shred is a AAA-certified member of the National Association of Information Destruction, the only US Government recognized national trade organization dedicated to secure document destruction. Your documents will be destroyed on site on a mobile shredding truck, equipped with an internal camera that allows you to watch your papers be destroyed.
The Lower East Side Ecology Center will also be on hand to collect unwanted electronics such as computers, monitors, network devices, peripherals, printers, TVs, cell phones and A-V equipment.
Volunteers will receive a sticker saying “I Made Park Slope Cleaner Today”, and Community Service Vouchers will be available for those who need them. We’ll serve refreshments and provide all tools and supplies.
The result of this event will be a cleaner and more beautiful community for all who live, work, visit, and do business here.
We look forward to seeing you there!
