Prospect Park Initiatives:
Saturday, June 7 – National Trails Day

Prospect Park is home to several miles of trails, including areas such as the Peninsula, The Midwood, and Lookout Hill. Join Prospect Park Alliance on National Trails Day to help support and care for the trail system on this national day of service. Volunteers will support trails on Lookout Hill, by mulching and widening trails to ensure safe and easy access. Volunteers may also assist with other tasks, such as litter removal, path edging, and more.
Sunday, June 22 – Park Pitch In: Green + Go
Help Prospect Park Alliance keep the park green and vibrant! Explore the park while tackling litter and helping with other greening opportunities. Supplies can be checked out at various locations around the park and include all necessary tools for your volunteer experience.
Saturday, September 27 – National Public Lands Day
Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth weekend in September, National Public Lands Day is traditionally the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort. It celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits. Join Prospect Park Alliance as we support Brooklyn’s backyard in a day of stewardship near the Picnic House! Tasks may include path edging, weeding, tree bed care, and more!
Sunday October 5, Park Pitch In: Street Tree Care Help
Help Prospect Park Alliance care for its trees! Volunteers will help support the urban forest by tending to the hundreds of street trees that line the park. Participants will learn how to weed, mulch, and aerate tree beds. Volunteers will also learn how they can care for the street trees in their neighborhoods.
