City Councilmember Stephen Levin is giving residents in his 33rd Council District — which includes the North Slope — the chance to decide how $1 million in city funding should be spent within his district. Levin is one of eight councilmembers who are taking part in this participatory budgeting process; he joins neighboring legislator Brad Lander (39th District), returning from last year’s inaugural cycle, in this inspiring funding mechanism for local projects.
Corrected date: Neighborhood assemblies are the first step in participatory budgeting — community meetings where residents share their ideas for projects to build in our neighborhood. Levin will be holding an assembly in Park Slope on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 6:30-9:30 p.m., at Old First Reformed Church, 729 Carroll St. (corner of Seventh Avenue).
