The Move NY Fair Plan is a comprehensive proposal that addresses the health of New York City’s transportation system. It aims to reduce traffic congestion and fund transportation and transit improvements. The plans include:
Revenue dedicated to road and bridge infrastructure; modernizing subways, expanding Select Bus Service/Bus Rapid Transit lines, lowering fairs and increasing service on intra-city commuter rail and Express Buses, and bringing the transit network to currently underserved neighborhoods through Major Transit Capital projects.
5-10% Reduced congestion in neighborhoods surrounding the Manhattan Central Business District (CBD) and 15-20% reduced congestion in the CBD.
“Toll Swap”: a reduction in tolls for MTA’s major outlying bridges including the Triborough, Whitestone, Throgs Neck and Verrazano Narrows, in exchange for E-Z Pass/Pay by mail electronic tolls for four East River Bridges and across 60th Street (with special provisions for taxis and commercial vehicles).
