
Celebrate biking on May 30 at our 2nd Bike Day in Prospect Park.
Join us from 11am – 2pm at Bartel-Pritchard Square for a 2-wheeled celebration. We will have helmet giveaways provided by the New York City Department of Transportation, Learn to Ride clinics for children with Bike New York and guided rides around the park with Kissena Cycling Club.
Trade bikes your children have outgrown at our Children’s Bicycle Swap. Volunteers will help with minor repairs so bikes are ready for their new riders.
Our complete list of activities is below:
• Bike New York: Rules of the Road session, children learn-to-ride class, and support for the bike swap and raffle
• Transportation Alternatives: Table on street safety and legislative efforts and updates, including Grand Army Plaza Redesign.
• Kissena Cycling Club,: Two guided adult rides and educational materials on Prospect Park riding protocols, race schedules, best riding times, and tips for safe interaction between cyclists and pedestrians.
• New York Cycle Club: Free minor bike repairs and information on upcoming rides
• R&A Cycles Brooklyn: Free Minor Bicycle Repairs
• Workers Justice Project: Outreach on safe riding practices for delivery workers
• NYPD 78th Precinct: Participation to support safety education
• NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital,: Cycling safety education from emergency clinicians, Hands only CPR, brown bag medication review
• Good Neighbors of Park Slope,: Highlighting campaigns including the Link NYC campaign aimed at enhancing the visibility of safety regulations throughout the Park Slope community
• Council Member Shahana Hanif’s office: Frisbees and leaf bags
• Park Slope Parents: Children’s activities and event promotion
• NYC DOT: Helmet giveaway (500 helmets) with on-site fittings, Bike Swap
