Sponsoring Some Food for Thought

The Park Slope Civic Council has long been a vital organization in a strong and growing Park Slope. In recent years, the Civic Council, like so many other organizations, has been affected by our economic downturn. We want to make sure that this lack of funding won’t stop us from supporting our numerous projects and initiatives throughout the community.

The Civic Council is thrilled to be planning “Food for Thought,” our first fundraiser, which is set for Wed., Oct. 10, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the beautiful Prospect Park Picnic House. The event will be a fun night out — guests will be able to sample an array of delicacies and beverages from popular local restaurants while they mingle with their neighbors and learn about the Civic Council’s many contributions to the community. In addition to the food tastings, there will be short presentations made by top chefs, food critics, writers, and movers and shakers in the local farm-to-table food movement. If you appreciate fine food, fine dining, and are passionate about supporting your community, this event it not to be missed!

Our goals for this event are to raise much-needed funds that will help us continue and expand our initiatives, as well as raise awareness of the Civic Council and encourage new and active members. To help cover our costs so more of the fundraiser’s proceeds can be put toward community projects and initiatives, we are looking for individuals and businesses interested in sponsoring the event. Several levels of sponsorship are available, each with a different set of benefits:

For $3,000 or more: Title sponsorship for the event
 — prominent logo placement on all promotional materials (posters, web advertising, printed event materials)
, three months of complementary online advertising on the Civic Council’s newly redesigned website
, recognition at the fundraiser, and five complementary tickets

For $1,500-$2,999: Logo placement on all promotional materials (posters, web advertising, printed event materials)
, recognition at the fundraiser, and two complementary tickets

Up to $1,499: Recognition on the Civic Council’s website

All contributing restaurants will receive a table for food display and any promotional materials and their business name and/or logos (space permitting) will appear on our redesigned website and in all print advertising, posters, invitations, and other printed materials.

Tickets for Food for Thought will be on sale starting in August for $75 a person.

We hope the fundraiser will become an annual event that Park Slopers look forward to each year. For questions, more information about sponsorship or participation, or ticket purchases, contact Melinda Morris, co-chair of the Civic Council’s Outreach Committee, e-mail foodforthought@parkslopeciviccouncil.org or call 718.369.4006.
