Spring Sweep Cleans Up on 7th Avenue

Making a clean sweep of our neighborhood, the Civic Council and friends gathered on Sunday, April 25th in front of the John Jay Educational Campus on 7th avenue for the 2021 Spring Civic Sweep. During this annual spring beautification, recycling, and clean-up event, neighbors had the opportunity to bring their unwanted electronics for recycling by the Lower East Side Ecology Center. Computers, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, cables, phones and more were dropped off at the Sweep’s recently relocated 7th Avenue location. The Council provided refreshments as well as tools and supplies for cleaning up along 6th, 7th and 8th Avenues. Volunteers left wearing “I Made Park Slope Cleaner Today” stickers.

Many thanks to our media partners, Park Slope Parents and Park Slope Neighbors, for helping to make this event a great success.

Thanks as well to the Brooklyn and Manhattan students from UNIS (the United Nations International School) who teamed up to clean up litter on the sidewalks of 7th Avenue, and earned community service credits for their hard work.
