The Park Slope Civic Council promotes the health, vitality and character of the Park Slope neighborhood and advocates for the interests of residents, businesses and others with a stake in the community.
While we do not normally issue statements on world affairs, we recognize that the massacres that took place in Israel are of a magnitude not seen since the Holocaust, and believe it is incumbent upon us and all people and organizations of good will to speak out against this horrendous attack on Jews, democracy and humanity.
New York City is home to the largest Jewish community outside of Israel, as well as a sizeable Palestinian population. We acknowledge that what happens in the Middle East deeply impacts our friends and neighbors here in Park Slope and throughout NYC, and express our support during this difficult time.
