Jill Jefferson, Former Trustee
Jill has been a Park Slope resident for over 25 years. She grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana but moved to the east coast to attend college and law school. She has a B.S. in Economics and a J.D. where her focus was international law and public policy. After practicing law for a short period of time, she moved to Park Slope on Garfield Place where she currently resides. Jill chose to live in Park Slope because her best friend was born and raised on 3rd street between 7th and 8th Avenues and she used to visit often when they were in college and fell in love with the neighborhood.
When Jill moved to New York, she started working for Merrill Lynch in media relations and then moved on to corporate communications and brand strategy. She stayed at Merrill Lynch for almost 12 years and then left after 9/11 as she felt that she needed to feed her passion for community service. She then started working for one of the oldest community based nonprofits in Brooklyn called Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service. Jill hit the ground running and helped reshape and rebrand the community based organization, which is now called Brooklyn Community Services and has been supporting underserved communities throughout the borough since the late 1800s. After remaining there for over 5 years, she returned to the financial services industry and is now an Executive Director at JPMorgan Chase in corporate communications.
Jill loves classical music and at the tender “young” age of 35 started taking viola lessons at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. She has now been playing with the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra for the past 14 years and is on their Board of Directors and has served as President of the Board twice.
Jill is excited to serve as a trustee of the Park Slope Civic Council and to help increase the footprint of the Council in Park Slope and other neighboring communities.
