Saira Akhtar

Saira Akhtar is an architect with experience across a wide range of cultural, institutional, and residential projects, including theaters, libraries, universities, and mixed-use towers. Before founding her own practice, Meimar Architecture PLLC, she spent over 15 years at firms such as FXCollaborative, Davis Brody Bond, and HMA2 Architects.

A Park Slope resident since 2017, Saira became involved with the Park Slope Civic Council in 2024 through the House Tour steering committee. As a LEED-accredited architect and certified Passive House designer, she was drawn to the Tour’s mission of promoting sustainable architecture and making it more accessible to the public.

Saira is passionate about work that sits at the intersection of architecture, community, and local advocacy—particularly initiatives that empower residents to shape and improve the built environment. She is especially committed to programs that support greener streets and foster a more climate conscious neighborhood.
