Swathi is a dedicated health and climate advocate who works with UNICEF and governments worldwide to protect vulnerable populations from extreme weather events and climate-related hazards. She’s equally committed to building local connections and has spent her two years in Park Slope volunteering with neighborhood organizations focused on sustainable and green practices (she’s now an avid composter for life!). Swathi is excited to bring her expertise in community resilience to PSCC and help advance initiatives that build on the strengths of our neighborhood.
As an administrator of the Park Slope 30s Something group—a community initiative launched in 2022 to reconnect neighbors after the pandemic—she has firsthand experience in fostering meaningful social connections. Swathi sees significant potential in bridging this group with Council-supported activities, leveraging our shared desire for deeper neighborhood connections and collaborative experiences.
She is particularly passionate about supporting and organizing initiatives focused on critical local needs such as:
- Improving neighborhood disaster preparedness;
- Spreading awareness about public health initiatives offered by the city and councilmembers;
- Reducing local pollution; and
- Enhancing biodiversity and green spaces
By strategically organizing and supporting such programs, we can attract more engaged community members and potentially establish sustained, annual community-driven efforts.
